Hyakumi Sushi Near Avalon Warner Place in Canoga Park: Inventive Sushi Rolls and Classic Kitchen Entrees

Don't expect the same old sushi rolls at Hyakumi Sushi. This establishment's sushi chef isn't afraid to get a bit creative with classic Japanese cuisine, and the results are as beautiful and delicious as they are innovative.

Try the Gillian sushi for a unique treat. It's stuffed with plump shrimp and slightly crunchy asparagus. The Alaska roll, on the other hand, features spicy crab, baby shrimp, and chunks of fresh avocado. If you prefer freshwater eel, that's the centerpiece of the Caterpillar, a roll that's topped with more eel (but the baked variety) and avocado. Don't forget the spicy crab tempura roll, either. It comes with fresh tuna and salmon perched atop it.

You don't have to love sushi to love Hyakumi Sushi, though. The eatery near Avalon Warner Place also serves kitchen entrees. Try the teriyaki beef, seafood udon, or barbecued beef ribs in lieu of sushi.

Angel City Cafe Near Avalon Warner Place: Fine Dining by Longtime Caterers in Woodland Hills

Angel City Cafe's menu isn't large, and that's a pointed choice by its owners. Their 20-plus years of experience in the catering business taught them a thing or two about Woodland Hills diners. One of the tips they picked up? Customers will keep coming back for quality fare—no matter the quantity.

So rather than offer an expansive menu with a multitude of so-so dishes, Angel City Cafe's chefs take their time perfecting just a handful. Enjoy one of the carefully created starters, perhaps the Cajun clam chowder. Like the rest of the menu items, the clam chowder is reasonably priced given the quality of its ingredients. Once you've noshed on the clam chowder, order an entree like shrimp scampi or potato-crusted sea salmon. Bring a bottle of wine or six-pack of your favorite beer along to enjoy with your meal; there's no corkage fee at Angel City Cafe.

Cupid's Hot Dogs Near Avalon Warner Place Keeps It Simple and in The Family

Cupid's Hot Dogs near Avalon Warner Place has been in business since 1946, and not much has changed since the Northridge eatery opened. The popular hot dog spot was actually originally named Walsh's Dogs, but all along, it has continued to be owned and operated by the same family.

The menu here is rather simple. It consists of hot dogs, toppings, drinks, and chips. Although it may not seem like it, the menu has come a long way since Richard Walsh balked at his's son suggestion to add ketchup and relish to the menu in the early 1980s. Shortly after, the Triangle with mustard, relish, and onions was born. The Triangle is still featured today and is one of only two items on the menu. The other option is the Everything, which comes with mustard, onions, and chili. You could "be creative and make it your own way" as the menu states, and add onions, mustard, ketchup, relish, chili, sauerkraut, or cheese.
