Stratford Antique Center: A Modern-Day Treasure Hunt, Just a Quick Trip From Avalon Stratford

Stratford Antique Center is a haven for area vintage enthusiasts, antique collectors and retro lovers alike. Not far from Avalon Stratford, this large, warehouse-style store boasts booths from a variety of different collectors, so there is always something for every shopper’s tastes.

It measures an impressive 16,500 square feet and includes wares from more than 200 dealers. Certain booths focus more on mid-century modern charm, while others are filled with treasures from as far back as the 1920s. Old typewriters, vintage clothing, home goods and an endless supply of knickknacks are all available from Stratford Antique Center, and they’re all reasonably priced. The store itself is also conveniently located right off of the highway and offers a spacious parking lot out front, making it even easier to track down some antique treasures while out running errands or spending a weekend afternoon shopping.

Avalon Stratford in Stratford Isn't Far From Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo

Visiting a zoo is a wonderful way to learn about exotic animals and to teach your little ones about the animal kingdom, and although it isn’t as elaborate as some of the nation’s larger options, Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo still just as fascinating. Since it's not far from Avalon Stratford, it would be a snap for you to visit.

This small yet well-maintained zoo features beautiful landscaping that makes it very easy to navigate, as well as a wide selection of wildlife for its small size. Animals native to the area such as foxes, vultures, and owls are just as well-represented as the more exotic tigers and camels. Beautiful peacocks even roam the zoo freely, offering and up-close-and-personal look that you might not normally experience. Finish up a visit with a trip to the gift shop or lunch at the small restaurant.
