Aioli: Exerience the Taste of Chicago Not Far From Avalon Irvine

Owner Jordan Mullikin brings that taste of Chicago to Irvine with his restaurant Aioli. Inside the restaurant, which is just a short drive from Avalon Irvine, Mullikin is able to focus on his passion for sauces while sharing some of Chicago’s most famous dishes. His menu includes Italian beef soaked in its natural au jus, Italian sausage, and the Chicago dog—traditionally topped with yellow mustard, relish, onions, tomato, pickle, sport peppers, and a dash of celery.

Chef Jordan puts a twist on these classic Chicago dishes by smothering the Italian beef with his red wine barbecue sauce and topping a Vienna beef dog with chipotle aioli or house-made chili. You can also find these toppings on his burgers, which are served in a brioche, whole-grain, or pretzel bun. Enjoy your burger with lighter twist by ordering it wrapped in lettuce instead of bread.

Try Beans or Booze in Your Shaved Ice at The Balcony Grill and Bar Near Avalon Irvine

The Balcony Grill and Bar is a rather misleading name for this Irvine establishment, given the main focus of its menu: shaved snow. True, you can enjoy a Taiwanese-style dinner cooked in your table's own hot pot. You can grab a drink at the bar. But the dessert garners the most attention from Yelp reviewers, who give it high marks in more than 200 of The Balcony's 600-plus reviews.

Located not far from Avalon Irvine, you can easily make the trip to The Balcony Bar and Grill for dessert after dinner, even late at night. Its shaved snow comes in a variety of flavors with eclectic mix-ins. Try the milk snow teeming with mango chunks or green tea snow filled with mocha, red bean, and milk brulee. If you'd rather customize your sweet, pick a base flavor and then add toppings such as peanuts, fruits, flavored syrups, or even egg pudding. Those older than 21 can add an adult twist to their shaved ice by requesting shots of Kahlua or Baileys on top.
