Fresh Sandwiches Make for a Quick Lunch at The Sandwich Shoppe, Not Far From Avalon Wilton on Danbury Road

The Sandwich Shoppe has become a popular lunch spot in Wilton thanks to its reliably fresh sandwiches. Although the deli sticks pretty close to tradition with its combinations of ingredients, most Yelp reviewers say that the staff crafts its sandwiches so well that it's still well worth the trip from Avalon Wilton on Danbury Road.

You can swing by for a breakfast sandwich or come in for lunch and get the daily special. One customer who did so received a hearty wrap stuffed with eggplant and plenty of gooey provolone cheese, roasted peppers, tomato, and lettuce. She paired it with minestrone soup, a dish that came from the kitchen hot and equally impressive. Try the 25H, which is a turkey and cheddar pita, or the chicken salad wrap. The Italian wedding soup also wins praise from a customer, so slurp some up on a cold day.

Red Bee Apiary Churns Out Single-Origin Honey Near Avalon Wilton on Danbury Road

Not all honeys are created equally, at least according to fans of the Red Bee Apiary's honey. Those fans include many celebrity chefs, the owners of artisan food stores all around the U.S., and even the hosts of The Chew on the ABC network. These folks have either used or featured honey from the Red Bee Apiary, and it's clear that owner and operator Marina Marchese does things a bit differently than your average beekeeper.

Marchese brings Italian honeybees to Weston, where they produce the single-origin honeys on which she has built her reputation. If you'd like to learn more about her rise to local (and now national) stardom, you can read her book, Honeybees: Lessons from an Accidental Beekeeper. You can also just ask her about it yourself. Since Red Bee Apiary is just a short trip away from Avalon Wilton on Danbury Road, you can easily come here for a honey-tasting workshop, which includes an array of local honeys to sample with local cheese and fruits.
