Brown Bag Cafe: Dig Into Breakfasts and Lunches Like Mom Used to Make, Not Far From Avalon Kirkland at Carillon Point

Brown Bag Cafe’s tradition of serving breakfast and lunch to Kirkland patrons started back in 1979 when the first location opened. A former cook and baker for logging camps in Alaska, the restaurant’s founder, Ward Myers, knew how difficult it was for lumberjacks to get a good meal. So, he opened a place in Washington to provide local loggers a hearty breakfast and home-style “brown bag” lunch for later.

Now run by Myers’ stepson, Alex, Brown Bag Cafe continues to serve hearty breakfast and lunch fare, only now it’s on a plate. Morning fare includes cinnamon roll French toast, biscuits and gravy, and a selection of French-style omelets. Breakfast also comes with all-you-can-eat toast. Meanwhile, the lunch menu features half-pound, charbroiled burgers or house-made sandwiches stacked atop freshly baked bread. You can also enjoy kettle-fried chicken strips, halibut, and French fries made fresh daily. These items are roasted in oils free of trans fats. Check out Brown Bag Cafe's hearty eats for yourself by making the quick drive from Avalon Kirkland at Carillon Point.
