Benjamin W. Schall serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Vivmark Residential, one of the country's leading developers and operators of rental housing, with more than 180,000 apartment homes across major metropolitan markets in the United States. He is also a member of the Company's Board of Trustees.

Prior to the formation of Vivmark, Mr. Schall served as President, Chief Executive Officer and member of the Board of Directors of AvalonBay Communities, Inc., which he joined as President in January 2021 and where he became Chief Executive Officer effective January 2022. Before joining AvalonBay, he was Chief Executive Officer, President, and a trustee of Seritage Growth Properties, a publicly traded REIT focused on owning, developing, and managing a diversified portfolio of retail and mixed-use properties. Earlier in his career, Mr. Schall served as Chief Operating Officer of Rouse Properties, Inc., a publicly traded mall and retail REIT, from 2012 to 2015, and as Senior Vice President of Vornado Realty Trust prior to that.

Mr. Schall is a member of the Board of Directors of the PulteGroup, Board Member of the Real Estate Roundtable, Chairman of the Nareit Foundation, Treasurer of the Nareit executive board, and a Board Member of the Economic Club of DC. He serves as Co-Chair of the Board of University Settlement, a nonprofit service provider in New York City. He received his Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and his undergraduate degree from Swarthmore College.
