Koi Japanese Cuisine: Fresh Sushi in a Comfortable Setting Near Eaves Seal Beach

Normally when you get sushi as good as the sushi at Koi Japanese Cuisine, it comes with a high price tag. But locals say that’s not the case at Koi, where the sushi is made with the freshest fish and served in a casual setting. Yelpers say both staff and customers here are welcoming and friendly. Sit at the bar for one-on-one service from the sushi chef, or take a table for a more private, intimate experience.

Popular dishes here include the tuna, salmon, and yellowtail sashimi; the fish served varies according to what’s available. Refer to the chalkboard over the bar to find out what’s available on a given night. Try the carpaccio, the spicy tuna and crab tostada, the stuffed shitake, the sautéed Chilean sea bass, or the broiled lobster. Koi Japanese Cuisine tends to get busy during peak hours, but regulars say the food is worth the wait. All of this awaits just a short drive from Eaves Seal Beach.

La Creperie Cafe: A Taste of Paris Not Far From Eaves Seal Beach

Crepes are some of the most popular street foods in Paris, and Long Beach’s La Creperie Cafe brings these French delicacies to sunny California. This self-described “bohemian bistro and bar,” which is just a quick drive from Eaves Seal Beach, is decorated more like a Victorian-era castle than a modern eatery, with incredibly ornate chandeliers, oversized, gilded mirrors hanging from the walls and murals painted around the rooms.

Equal parts campy and cozy, even La Creperie Cafe’s menu is filled with a few surprises. Sweet and savory crepes are served with a wide variety of wines and champagnes, and it simply doesn’t get more European than that. The cafe often hosts live jazz performances to accompany the lunch or dinner crowds.

With a weekday happy hour and half-priced bottles on certain days of the week, La Creperie Cafe is the perfect places for a celebration or a lively dinner out. Because the restaurant is fairly small, reservations are recommended.
